Butterfly Brooch Pins for Pancreatic Cancer UK

If you follow me on any social media site you will see that I have been posting lots of pictures about a design I have been making.  This design is a cute butterfly brooch pin that I am selling to raise money for Pacreatic Cancer UK.  I have been working closely with the charity and I am pleased to be able to try and make a small difference using my skills.

This is the butterfly

you can purchase the butterflies from my website which is here  I would like to say a massive thank you to all the people that have purchased so far.  We need to raise awareness and funding for this charity.

Some people may ask why am I raising money for this charity in particular? Well it is not only because of the storyline of Hayley from coronation street. It is a more personal one.  One of my good friends has this cancer which is terminal and before I met him I wasnt even aware what it meant so raising awareness is a key point. If we can all just help a little and start talking and raising awareness of this cancer then if it just helps one person it would be fantastic.

I am also going to be releasing the pattern for knitters to make and sell their creations or for themselves and dontate to the charity too.  As I have had alot of knitters asking if they can make them too and help in some way.  Also keep a look out on @peggysyarns on twitter and on the website for specially dyed yarns and stitch markers to raise money Peggys Yarns Website

Spring/summer photo shoot behind the scenes

It has been long anticipated but here is the behind the scenes of the spring summer collection 2013. Included with the designs were accessories from Gold Boutique and Kerry's Jewellery. They finished off the outfits brilliantly.

A massive thank you to everyone involved! We always have such fun on the photo shoot day. A big thank you to Gressenhall rural life musuem for letting us conduct the photo shoot at their farm which was a lovely setting for my designs.

The photographer was James Neale who I worked with on my last autumn winter shoot and loved his work so much it was certain to book him for this one.

The make up artist was Clare Alexandra Barber she created gorgeous neon looks for the models. Was lovely working with her again.

My gorgeous models are Rebecca Clarke, Heidi Jackson, Sophie Dean and Kevin D'Odemont as always a massive thank you to you all.

I have worked with illustrator Paul Holmes with the design for the tshirts. The girls also wore neon colour hand knitted cardigans to add that boost of colour.

One of my favourite pictures I took of the day was this one of Rebecca and Kevin. Promoting the anti bullying wrist bands by Jodie Marsh.

I can't wait to show you all the professional photographs they will be on the website very soon.

Round up of 2012

This is later than expected but here is the long awaited round up of 2012.  It was a busy year for Peggy's Collection and a few events made it a year that I will never forget.

A big thank you to all the bloggers and social media tweets and facebook support that I received and still do.  It is much appreciated and it what makes Peggy's Collection a success.

The year of 2012 started with a feature in Vintage Life Magazine which is a national publication.  I was honoured to be asked to feature in their magazine again.

I also attended my first catwalk show which was Norwich Fashion Week 2012 at the Designers Show in march 2012.  This was a great experience where I showcased my Spring/Summer 2012 collection.  It was a great atmosphere to be in and it taught me alot about the fashion world and how a catwalk show really works.  We had 2 shows one in the afternoon and one in the evening.  This also led to lots of newspaper articles about the shows featuring myself along side other designers before and after the show.

The next event was my Spring Summer photo shoot.  This was located at Wells Next The Sea.  The photographer was David Taylor with Emily Ross, Make up artist and hair stylist.  We went for the vintage look with the girls hair and make up.  It was a beautiful day and the models all looked fabulous.  The models were Heidi Jackson, Lydia Bareham, Joe Embrey, Kevin Dodemont and Abbey Whiting.

Throughout the year I have also been trying to feature as many young fashionista bloggers on my blog.  I think this is important to encourage everyone in the world of fashion and blogging.

Another big thing to happen this year was the opening of Peggy's Yarns.  This is a website that I sell hand dyed yarns and other accessories for the knitter or crocheter.  I have also featured some british designers products on here too which I think is important to support all small businesses. This has been a great success and I was featured on KnitSpinCake podcast a few weeks of opening it which was great!

The Autumn Winter photo shoot was a great success.  I worked with a photographer called James Neale who is a local photographer.  I love his work and I was very excited about working with him as I knew he would create the look perfectly for this shoot.  My models were Heidi Jackson, Rebecca Clarke and Kevin Dodemont.  Rebecca Clarke was also the Make up artist.  We had great fun at this photo shoot which was shot at a nearby chapel ruins.  Lots of leaves were thrown and I think the models had a good time as well as looking superb on all of the photographs. Please take a look at James Neale website to view his other work here

Another highlight of the year was winning the Purplebiz award on twitter.  This was great and it shows what support twitter can give to small businesses of all kinds.

I was then approached by Lets Knit Magazine to feature one of my patterns in their national publication.  My pattern was called 'Richard' and it was for a mens hat.  I really enjoyed making this and it was so great to see it in print.

I think that is the main round up of the year of 2012! sorry it has been a long post I have a few other moments to mention but I cannot fit them all on here so I will do seperate blog posts for these.  A massive thank you to everyone that has supported me in 2012 especially my gorgeous models!

If there is anything else you would like me to blog about or if you would like to guest blog for me then please let me know by commenting or emailing me.

Crafty Valentines Gifts for You and Him

Hello lovelies!

It’s very strange to be blogging for another blog!  I thought I’d go all out, and since
valentines is coming up soon, have a bit of a romantic DIY extravaganza.

I don’t know about you, but around this time of year I panic
a little – it’s alright for the guys, they have chocolate and roses to fall
back on, but what do we buy them??
Are we even supposed to buy them something?  Even if I’m not supposed to, will I feel bad when he has
given me a present and I have nothing to return?

As ever, the answer is of course to get crafty.  If it’s not much, at least its handmade
and comes from the heart, right?

Also, we need to treat ourselves at this time of year!  Bath, candles, new dress anyone?  So here are a few little crafty ideas
with a valentines theme which caught my eye,  some valentines gifts
for you and him.

You can find my blog here at OwlPrintPanda, and my etsy shop too!

The Card:

Crayon card - how cute are these?!  They are definitely on my 'to make' list for this year, though I'll need to wait until the other half is out the house to go melting all the crayons!

The Wrapping:

Foxy gift bag - who needs valentines wrapping paper when you can have a foxy gift bag?!  In fact, who needs wrapping paper ever again?

Paper Roses - it's the little touches which often finish off a gift, so if you are gift wrapping, why not top it off with some string and paper roses?  What the heck, why not top off the fox gift bag with them too.  They're quick and easy, and look more difficult than they are.

The Gift:

You light up my life - This has to be one of my favourite crafty finds and I've been waiting for ages to use it!  Paperweight or shelf ornament, this little cutie makes me smile :)  So will hopefully make him grin too!

Valentines Scratch
Cards
 - oh the possibilities for what you could hide behind these little silver windows!!!  I shall leave that up to you...

For You:

Valentines Heart Puff
Garland
 - quick and easy to make, I have one of these garlands on my fireplace and it makes me feel warm and fuzzy inside (awww).   You can also make them into keyrings!  If you don't knit yourself, you can find the garland and keyring in my etsy store too :)

The Food:

Sweetie Pie Pops - I've never laid eyes on anything like this before!  Definitely on the to-do list for next month!

Just since I'm the new Kid here, let me introduce myself - I'm Amanda.  Though having only blogged for a little while, I've found such a great community surrounding it!  I mainly knit crafty goodies, selling them on Ravelry and etsy along with the patterns (some of which can be found for free on my blog).

I love to wander new places and discover new things, there's nothing better than accidentally stumbling across a car boot sale.  I love to drink coffee and I'm sure the local cafes have likely had more than enough of me sitting in their window for hours knitting and watching the world go by!

I adore old teacups, and like to keep buttons in them...

Amanda :) x
